Many of these rivers have rapids and strong currents. Once, I heard of a woman who came from the mainland and went swimming in one of these rivers, and the current took her by surprise. The woman was drowning and about to lose her life. A little bird attracted by the sparkle of a gemstone in her ring clings to her big toe to steal it. It hurts, but the woman doesn’t move, for she is afraid only of losing the ring. The absurdity of the scene relates to our daily existence.
